Ol' Broad's Ramblings
Not Much To Say
There are few people who know what is going on in our (my family’s) real world right now, and at the moment, I’m going to keep it that way. Being perfectly honest, under the current circumstances, I don’t give a flying flip what is going on in politics. I’m not reading other blogs like I usually do throughout the week, finding interesting, and/or informative posts to link. I hope y’all will forgive me for not keeping up with things, but if you knew the circumstances, odds are, you’d ask…”Why the hell are you posting at all?” Well, sometimes, it keeps my mind busy, and at other times, I’m not even making much sense to myself.
Yes, this is a MAJOR family crisis, and as a family, we WILL stand together through this! Please bear with me, and pray that all will turn out well. I am leaving it in God’s Hands because He is the One Who is in control.
Protests, Beer, and Walk About
3 NATO Summit Protesters Hit With Terrorism-Related Charges
Although some NATO Summit protesters said there was nothing more incriminating than home brewing equipment in the Bridgeport apartment where they were staying, three of them have now been charged with possessing explosives to commit terrorist acts.
I guess it’s no secret I don’t much care for folks who make their ‘living’ going around the world, protesting whatever comes down the pike, but seriously? Now, I suppose if these folks used bottles for their home brewed beer, someone might be able to misconstrue the purpose, but then again…
Ok, here’s your very basic beer brewing set up, bare bones type stuff. They do get more elaborate, and expensive, but this is an example.
Not a lot too it. Obviously, I have no idea what these people had in their apartment. It could have been a set up similar to this, or it might well have been a bunch of bottles and gasoline, or some other seriously flammable substance, and the article doesn’t say.
If all they were doing was making home brewed beer, then police over reacted. IF, on the other hand, as anarchists types are wont to do, they were preparing to create chaos, cause mayhem, and destroy anything in their path, then throw ‘em under the jail. I’m pretty fed up with those who have NO respect for other peoples property. If they made an effort to earn anything on their own, they just MIGHT understand.
There was also accusations of mistreatment, and ‘violation of civil rights’ by the police. Called me shocked! There always seem to be such accusations coming from the left, the anarchists, and generally anyone who has an issue about anything. Isn’t it odd that they never mind violating someone else’s REAL rights, but when it comes to themselves, EVERYTHING is a “right”, and they are always being violated. Did the guy actually WALK all the way from Philadelphia to Chicago just to stand around with some stupid sign, and shout vulgarities? I have my doubts about that walking business.
More Dumbing Down
Wouldn’t you think if teachers actually wanted the kids to learn, they would work on bringing the kids up to standards, instead of dropping the standards to the kids? It’s no wonder our kids are turning out dumber than a bag of hair! Ok…maybe a wee bit extreme, but that’s the way it’s starting to look.

Bringing Back Sanity
Obviously, not everyone is Wisconsin is a complete and utter moron. Only those who subscribe to the ‘gimmee now’ mentality of the far left loons, aka the Madison and Milwaukee areas, seem to think bringing back jobs to the states, and asking public UNION employees to contribute to their own health care and retirement, have a major problem with a man who is working in the best interest of the ENTIRE state, instead of just the unionistas.
They should probably move out to California, since that state apparently has the whole progressive/socialist/commie thing down pat, and is sinking farther and farther into debt because of their compliance with the stupid, and selfish. Just sayin’.
Invasion Of Idiots
Civil rights group says school censored students
The Southern Poverty Law Center sent a letter to the Hardin County school system after a student said she was prohibited from publicly supporting gay rights in school.
The civil rights group said in a release that a student at Hardin County High School said that she was told by an assistant principal that she could not display slogans or symbols supportive of gay rights because those symbols advertise or promote sex.
The group also said the assistant principal terminated a student organized “Week of Pride” event to show support for gay rights and threatened students with suspension, class failure and disqualification from graduations.
SPLC said that unless the school takes action, it will file a lawsuit. The county superintendent did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
It’s quite obvious that the morons at SPLC know absolutely NOTHING about Hardin County! First off, you can throw a rock in any direction, and hit a church. Not a bar, a church! Second, the school is well within it’s rights to prevents students from promoting any kind of sexual behavior. I wonder if they’d get their knickers in a twist if a student was told he/she couldn’t wear a “One Man + One Woman = Marriage” shirt? I seriously doubt it! How about a student who wears a shirt depicting the American flag? Highly unlikely!
The purpose of this group is to promote that which is contrary to nature. Yes, some of the groups they title as ‘hate groups’ really ARE hate groups, but many they peg with that title are no more than a group of people trying to save their country….something that the SPLC, and organizations like them, are vehemently opposed to! I’d have to call THEM a hate group, because, apparently, they hate anything that promotes the Law of Nature.
You know, if these types of groups were more concerned with the health and well being of our kids, they’d do more to promote Biblical values for our kids, instead of encouraging them to push themselves into poverty with unwanted pregnancies, and an ‘alternative lifestyle’ that does more harm physically, mentally, and emotionally. Just sayin’.
Making America Inferior
America’s Antique Air Force
The Foundry
America’s flying fortress, the Cold War-era B-52 bomber, has been in service for the last 50 years, running missions in Vietnam, Operation Desert Storm, Afghanistan and the war in Iraq. It’s a striking example of how America’s military is being forced to do more with less, relying on decades-old technology to confront today’s challenges. Unfortunately, the B-52 is only one example of the United States’ geriatric fighting force, and with mounting cuts to the military, America’s ability to defend itself is increasingly called into question.
In a new “America at Risk” video from The Heritage Foundation, David A. Deptula, a retired three-star general, gives his view of America’s aging Air Force. It’s a story he has experienced first hand. Deptula flew an F-15 for the first time in 1977, and 30 years later, his son, Lt. David A. Deptula II, flew the same F-15 at Kadena Air Force Base in Japan. The fighter, which was initially planned to have a 4,000-hour service life, later saw its mission extended to 8,000 hours. Heritage’s Rob Bluey reports on one harrowing incident where Deptula came face to face with the consequences of stretching U.S. forces to their limits:
While serving as the joint task force commander in 1998 and 1999 for Operation Northern Watch, Deptula flew 82 combat missions over Iraq. On one mission, as he was headed to a tanker to refuel, the master caution light came on, revealing a problem with the plane. His fuel gauge went to zero. Meanwhile, he was 500 miles away from his base. Fortunately, he was able to land safely.
‘The insulation was so old it simply had deteriorated to the extent where it came off and all of the wiring shorted out,’ Deptula explained. ‘Those are the kinds of things that happen when airplanes get to certain ages.’
While his aircraft was grounded, another set of airplanes traveled from Kadena Air Force Base in Japan, on other side of the world, to replace the one that was being repaired.
Ultimately, the Air Force was forced to ground its entire F-15 fleet after one fighter disintegrated during a training mission in Missouri in 2007. In a new paper, Heritage’s Steven Bucci explains the consequences of continuing the trend of cutting the military and stretching U.S. forces:
The Obama Administration is seemingly trying to find ways to pay for the expansion of entitlement spending programs at the expense of the military force, arguing that military spending is a drain on the economy rather than a protector of American society.
While everyone, including military leadership, wants more efficiencies, cutbacks in military programs motivated solely by cost savings are ill-advised. Cutting many of the at-risk programs will leave the U.S. military where they were post-World War II and post-Cold War: hollow and ill-prepared for growing threats.
Stretching the life of military aircraft puts our fighting men and women in mortal danger, and it poses threats for the U.S. armed forces as a whole. In Heritage’s video, Deptula says, “I hear people talk about, well you know, the U.S. military spends more money than the next 17 nations combined. Well, the next 17 nations combined are not committed to maintaining peace and stability around the world. We are.” But in order to keep that commitment, Congress and the Administration must ensure that the U.S. military has the resources it needs to carry out its mission of protecting America.
Awakening Insanity
Iranian Calls for ‘Islamic Awakening’ to Destroy Israel
An Iranian official called this week for an ‘Islamic Awakening’ movement to help Palestinian Authority Arabs “demolish the Zionist regime”, the IRNA news agency reported.
The comments were made at a conference in Tehran in honor of Nakba Day – the day of catastrophe – which is what the Arabs call the English date of May 15, when the State of Israel was re-established with a declaration of independence in 1948.
In a brief address at the end of the conference, the official, Hossein Shiekholeslam said, “In success of a revolution three major factors need to play effective roles, and they are the people, the leadership, and the school of thought, or ideology.”
Well, I don’t know about you, but I think this world has seen enough ‘islamic awakening’ to last centuries! What we REALLY need is a REAL awakening in the churches and synagogues! A turning back to God. The REAL God!
Trying to gain a wee bit of understanding, I looked up Iran’s constitution, and under ‘foreign policy‘, found this:
Article 154
The Islamic Republic of Iran has as its ideal human felicity throughout human society, and considers the attainment of independence, freedom, and rule of justice and truth to be the right of all people of the world. Accordingly, while scrupulously refraining from all forms of interference in the internal affairs of other nations, it supports the just struggles of the mustad’afun against the mustakbirun in every corner of the globe.
You’ll notice a couple of words not usually found in an English dictionary, so it was time to investigate further.
Mustad’afun – The oppressed (Muslim) masses (Khomeini and Qaradawi). Khomenini took up the populist rhetoric of the left and was therefore appealing to the entire spectrum from the left to the Islamists. He accused the imperialists of dividing the society into the oppressors and the oppressed and declared that it was a duty for the ulama to save these people. However, after the end of the Revolution, he purged the leftists from the government.
I pondered this for a bit. Then, came to the conclusion, the only people who oppress muslims are………..muslims. So, I’m not real sure who exactly that lunatic, Khomeini, was actually referring to. Ok, what about the other word? It took a while, but I was thinking it was the opposite, and I was correct.
Mustakbirun – Oppressors. (Sometimes, I amaze m’self…especially when I’m only on my first cup of coffee!)
If you look at the history of islam, with open eyes, you’d see a great deal of oppressing going on, with non muslims being the most oppressed. Of course, the society as a whole is oppressive, so anyone living under islamic rule would, by default, be oppressed. Wearing a burlap sack, from head to toe, is quite oppressive, IMHO.
I also came across the words being defined as ‘arrogant – aggressor’ (mustakbirun) and ‘weak – oppressed’ (mustad’afun). Jeez! Sure hope I got those straight. It becomes quite confusing, especially when you consider “Surely Allah does not love aggressors.” I reckon he’s none too fond of the Iranian and PA regimes then, eh?
Take a good hard look at the slave trade. While there is no end to the shame of the Americas (North & South) in this area, at least they didn’t murder babies born to the slaves in the sex trade.
A comparison of the Islamic slave trade to the American slave trade reveals some interesting contrasts. While two out of every three slaves shipped across the Atlantic were men, the proportions were reversed in the Islamic slave trade. Two women for every man were enslaved by the Muslims.
While the mortality rate for slaves being transported across the Atlantic was as high as 10%, the percentage of slaves dying in transit in the Trans Sahara and East African slave trade was between 80 and 90%!
While almost all the slaves shipped across the Atlantic were for agricultural work, most of the slaves destined for the Muslim Middle East were for sexual exploitation as concubines, in harems, and for military service.
While many children were born to slaves in the Americas, and millions of their descendants are citizens in Brazil and the USA to this day, very few descendants of the slaves that ended up in the Middle East survive.
So, who is the oppressed, and who is the oppressor? If you ever watch any of the children’s programs aired on ‘palestinian’ television, the oppressors/aggressors are NOT the Israelis. You don’t see them teaching their kids to murder in the name of God, ‘praying’ to be a martyr, blowing themselves up, do you? In Israel, Muslims have the right to vote. Do Jews have that right in any muslim country….if there are any left in muslim countries, that is. Jews and Christians tend to be ‘disappeared’ in countries ruled by islam. In other words, they either get kicked out, or they are murdered outright. How many Armenians are left in Turkey?
So, when these yahoos celebrate….honor….whatever, ‘the day of catastrophe‘, calling for the destruction of a nation, and peoples, I have to wonder, just who is this allah, and his minions, that would continually slaughter the innocent? Always, the name Molech comes to mind, notorious for demanding the sacrifice of children. In reality, Molech was nothing more than a piece of stone, and it was the so called priests that demanded the death of children. Bunch of freakin’ evil pervs, in my mind….kind of like the mothers who gladly sacrifice their children for a made up ‘prophet’.
Oh, the guy was real alright, but he was no prophet, except of evil and doom. If you do any reading, you’ll know that the first half of that ‘holy book’ was all peace and love. The second half, was written by a madman. He didn’t get his way, people fought back, and they were slaughtered, all because they wouldn’t bow to his will.
When Hossein Shiekholeslam spoke of ideology, he, of course, was speaking of the ideology of islam. As Daniel Pipes said in 2003: There is no such thing as a moderate Islamist, for all Islamists share the same long-term goals; they differ only over means. The means in Israel, and many other areas of the Middle East is blowing people up, creating terror. On this side of the world, however, the means of the ‘takeover’ is quiet, creeping, and just as devastating, using our own courts and laws to implement their ideology, aided and abetted by the ‘go along to get along’ mindset.
My question is: If Iran, through the PA, attacks Israel, whose side will the current administration be on? They’ve already assisted in the takeover of several countries of the extreme islamists. Granted, the head honchos of those countries were not nice people, but those who are taking their place aren’t so nice either, and might be even worse in the grand scheme of things. There are members of the muslim brotherhood working in our government right now. We’re importing more and more muslims from war torn countries who refuse to assimilate, and want laws changed to accommodate their wants and needs, according to THEIR ‘religion’. Let a Christian try that!
The first speaker at the conference, according to IRNA, was the PA Ambassador in Tehran, Salah Zawawi, who said that the one and only way to soothe the Arabs’ pains and agony is the annihilation of the Zionist regime.
Annihilating anyone, or anything, is NOT going to sooth ‘the Arabs’ pain’. That pain has been caused by themselves. Have you ever seen the Arab areas of Israel? Think inner city slum…trash, filth, and blaming others for the living conditions they, themselves created.
So, when you think seriously about it, this administration will likely come out against Israel. The American people, on the other hand, are largely in support of Israel, and will stand with her through thick and thin. The Iranian regime might want to remember that! Also, they might want to remember Who gave the land to the Hebrews, and just who are the invaders.
Dems Non Solutions
Harry Reid is the BEST obvious reason that Republicans need to take a large majority in the Senate, increase the CONSERVATIVE R’s in the House, and evict the current resident of the White House!
A Glimmer of Hope for the American Dream
The Foundry
Yesterday in the Senate, America bore witness to the glaringly obvious division in Washington, as stark as the contrast between high noon in the desert and midnight in the mountains. On the one hand is Majority Leader Harry Reid’s (D-NV) failure to pass a budget over the past three years. And on the other hand is leadership from conservative senators and representatives who have put forward serious proposals to rescue America from its debt and spending crises.
That division was laid bare inside the Capitol yesterday afternoon as the U.S. Senate voted 99-0 against President Barack Obama’s budget — a plan that spends more, taxes more, and slashes our military, all without making any attempt to reform America’s entitlement mess.
Compare the President’s proposal — and Reid’s total lack of a proposal — with the four plans offered by conservatives in Congress, chief among them being Senator Mike Lee’s (R-UT) budget, which mirrors the bold and thorough reforms The Heritage Foundation first proposed in its Saving the American Dream plan. That includes limiting the size of the federal government, reforming entitlement programs, and simplifying the federal tax code in an effort to restore our nation’s economic prosperity and ensure that future generations are not saddled with today’s debt.
Also important are plans proposed by House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-WI), Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) and Senator Pat Toomey (R-PA), all of which acknowledge that America is facing a fiscal crisis that cannot be wished away, taxed away, or passed on to future generations. Though the Senate did not pass any of those plans yesterday, each of them garnered significantly more support than the President’s “alternative,” which did not even win one vote from his own party.
The liberal leadership in the Senate is utterly bereft of ideas, and they’re also determined to prevent ideas from being offered. In a speech yesterday, Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) explained, “Republicans are proving that we are willing to be held accountable to the American people by putting a plan on the table and showing the American people what we would do to try and get our fiscal house in order.”
There are certain things the American people should expect when they send representatives to Washington. Standing on the sidelines while the nation swirls into a fiscal disaster is not one of them. Speaking from the Senate floor yesterday, Senator Lee expressed it best:
Doing nothing is no longer an option! Although this President and this Congress have attempted, by not having a budget, to convince the American people that doing nothing is the only option.
Ignoring our broken entitlement programs, maintaining our complex tax code, and pretending we don’t have a spending problem ensures that our economy will never truly recover and the American dream will not be restored.
Thanks to Senator Lee, Representative Ryan, Senator Toomey and others like them, there are proposals, ideas, and plans to cut spending, fix entitlements, reform the tax code, and make sure that America is properly defended. Lee is right, doing nothing is not an option. But with the efforts of conservatives in Congress, there are plenty of good options on the table. If only their colleagues would join them in taking action.
Gubmint Of One Percenters
Sacrificial scams
by Ann Coulter
The real class warfare in this country isn’t rich vs. poor, it’s government employees vs. we, the taxpayers, who pay their salaries.
Working for the government is supposed to be a trade-off: You can’t be fired and don’t have to exert yourself, but you will receive smaller remuneration than in the private sector, where layoffs are common (especially in the Obama economy!). Instead, government jobs are safe, secure, pressure-free — and now, amazingly lucrative!
Whether it’s in Wisconsin, Illinois, California or the nation’s capital, today’s public sector workers expect to do little or no work (I’m not counting partying in Las Vegas as “work”), and then be lavishly compensated. Often, the only heavy lifting they do all week is picking up their paychecks.
When government employees mobbed the state capitol in Wisconsin last year, the upside was: They got to bully people. The downside: Voters finally found out what these public servants were being paid.
Their compensation included not only straight salary, but also lavish overtime benefits, pensions, health care plans, sick days and vacation time (most of which they spent protesting).
The unions thought they could fight back against Gov. Scott Walker’s tiny pension rollbacks without anyone finding out the details. Most people saw what public employees were getting and assumed it was a misprint.
Two years ago, seven bus drivers in Madison, Wis., made more than $100,000 a year.
A few years before that, we found out that the city manager of little Bell, Calif. — per capita annual income $24,800 — was making $787,637, or including benefits: $1.5 million a year. The chief of police was getting $457,000 a year — $770,046 counting benefits — making him the first chief of police to commit highway robbery on the job. The assistant city manager was taking home $376,288 per year, for a total compensation package of $845,960.
All were Democrats, the party of Big Government.
Speaking of which — whatever happened to that investigation Gov. Jerry Brown was launching into these thieving public servants drawing million-dollar pensions from California taxpayers? The Bell scandal broke during the California gubernatorial race between Meg Whitman and Jerry Brown, who was then state attorney general. Brown vowed a no-holds-barred inquiry.
Anyone seen his report yet?
Jerry Brown will demand to see Obama’s birth certificate before he will call for a rollback of these undeserved, million-dollar government pensions.
Less than 20 percent of private sector employees get pensions. Most people save their own money for retirement — for example, through 401(k)s. By contrast, government employees expect to be paid by us for the rest of their lives.
Former representative and amateur home pornographer Anthony Weiner was a member of Congress until he resigned last June in order to spend more time with his hard drive. He will probably end up collecting about a million dollars from his 80 percent taxpayer-funded government pension.
These are the “1 percent” deserving of the public’s wrath: We’re paying their salaries. We weren’t taxed to pay Mitt Romney’s salary at Bain Capital. We aren’t taxed to pay the salaries of Jamie Dimon or Alex Rodriguez. Anthony Weiner? Him, we pay for.
Government employees expect to live like something out of the czar’s court — and then have us admire them as if they’re Rosa Parks.
At the 2008 Democratic National Convention, Barack and Michelle Obama both paid heartfelt tributes to themselves for passing up money-grubbing private sector jobs to work in “public service.”
In her speech, Michelle boasted that she had “tried to give back to this country.”
“… That’s why I left a job at a law firm for a career in public service, working to empower young people to volunteer in their communities.”
She was hired by the University of Chicago Hospital as soon as her husband became a state senator. When he was elected to the U.S. Senate, her salary nearly tripled, from $121,910 to $316,962 — and the junior senator from Illinois returned the favor by sending taxpayer dollars the hospital’s way.
By Obama’s second year in the U.S. Senate, in 2006, Michelle Obama’s compensation from “public service” was approximately $375,000 a year — more than triple the average salary for a lawyer in the United States with 20 years’ experience.
(America to the Obamas: “You two have sacrificed enough. Please retire and kick back a little!”)
Vice President Joe Biden, long touted as the poorest U.S. senator, took home $248,459 in household income in 2006, including his public school teacher wife’s salary, also paid by taxpayers. In 2007, these working poor made $319,853. This puts the couple nearly into the top 1 percent of all earners in the U.S., where the median household income was $48,201 in 2006 and $50,233 in 2007.
A career in “public service” pays well.
THOU SHALT NOT……
Judge Suggests Cutting Four Commandments in Religious Display Case
A judge in the latest ACLU-generated Ten Commandments display case has suggested that the targeted high school cull out four commandments that refer to God in order to avoid a full-blown lawsuit. As reported by the Associated Press, the ACLU of Virginia has filed a complaint against the Narrows, Virginia, high school on behalf of an unnamed student who claimed the display, which is part of a larger exhibit of historically significant documents, makes him feel like an outsider because he is an atheist.
When I first heard about this last week, I thought it was a joke. Due to issues beyond my control, I didn’t get around to ‘investigating’ further. But here it is…in black and white. Exactly WHICH of the Ten Commandments would this judge suggest be removed? (Torah – 20:1-13) In the NKJV, there are 5 that don’t mention the Name, so which one would the judge leave in? Or maybe he hasn’t read them in a while?
The ACLU is arguing that the display violates the First Amendment’s supposed separation clause, while the Giles County School Board, represented by the conservative legal advocacy group Liberty Counsel, insists that the Ten Commandments represent a crucial part of America’s historic foundation, and should be included with the other documents and illustrations in the display.
Actually, the ACLU is wrong, as usual, when it comes to the 1st Amendment. They really need to do better in depth study on the subject. Unfortunately, there are a WHOLE lot of officials that are totally clueless, and just take the word of organization like the ACLU and that bunch out of Wisconsin, Freedom from Religion. I find it beyond rational that a minority can dictate to the majority, and the courts let them. In the meantime, the country has gone down the tubes! Perhaps if we return the Laws back into prominence in our classrooms, courts, and all public areas, the message would sink in? Just a thought.
“Filing this lawsuit has not been easy, and I would not have done it if I were not genuinely disturbed by the Ten Commandments in the school,” the student in the case, referred to as “Doe 1,” said in a court document filed April 30. “I have had to go against school officials who have influence over my life and future.”
I’d like to know who hired this…kid (?)…to push their agenda. And seriously, if this kid has such an issue with some basic, common sense Laws, then perhaps he/she has issues with ALL laws, rules, and regulations? I don’t mean to sound, well, old fashioned might be the term, but perhaps the parents of this student have gone out of their way to spoil the little darlin’, giving in to him/her, whatever their empty heart desired? It’s apparent to me there is an empty place inside this kid, but I’m sure there will those who would argue that point. Argue away….won’t change my mind.
The school board is asking U.S. District Judge Michael Urbanski in Roanoke to rule that the Ten Commandments can stay, explaining that a private citizen had paid to put up the exhibit of historic documents and illustrations. The board insisted that the exhibit isn’t intended to be an endorsement of Judeo-Christian faith, but is an effort to show students some of the documents that were important to America’s founding.
Now, there’s an understatement! Where do these faith haters think we got our original laws? Perhaps they fell out of those rainbow farting unicorns? I’m guessing Nature’s Law is as alien to the ACLU and Freedom from Religion bunch as integrity is foreign to a Dem politician.
Ok, a private citizen paid for the display, hoping to aid in helping students actually LEARN the history of this country. And the problem is? Oh, that’s right….those bozos don’t WANT kids to learn the truth.
The Giles County School District has a lengthy record of contention over Ten Commandments displays. “The county’s two high schools and three elementary/middle schools had posted the Ten Commandments for more than a decade,” reported the AP. “The Freedom From Religion Foundation, the ACLU’s co-counsel in the lawsuit, objected to the displays in 2010 and requested their removal. School officials replaced them with the Declaration of Independence.”
Another issue…do the citizens of the community not pay property taxes which, in turn, pay for the schools? Shouldn’t the citizens who actually have a say in whether or not the display stays or not? What right does the ACLU and FFR have that they can come into a community and tell these taxpayers what they can have in the schools THEY pay for, huh? I’d really like to know!
At a hearing on the case Urbanski, who hoped to resolve the issue without a costly and lengthy trial, explained the reasoning behind his suggestion of cutting out some of the commandments. “If indeed this issue is not about God,” Urbanski wondered, “why wouldn’t it make sense for Giles County to say, ‘Let’s go back and just post the bottom six?’ But if it’s really about God, then they wouldn’t be willing to do that.”
This entire country, at it’s founding, was ‘about God’, and the liberties HE provided for us! And I repeat the question….just which six would he ‘allow’ the school to post? ALL of them are vital to the nation. Just because a large number of people have forgotten, doesn’t mean that God has forgotten. In man’s arrogance, he’s forgotten just WHO is really in charge!
You AIN’T All That!
President Me
The Foundry
Reflecting on his two terms in office, President George W. Bush said in 2010, “You realize you’re not it. You’re a part of something bigger than yourself.”
This is a sentiment President Barack Obama did not inherit from his predecessor. Over the past month we have witnessed several displays of arrogant power emanating from our White House, emphasizing fealty to a person over the integrity of an American institution. Some are more serious than others.
First, this week it was discovered that White House staff had edited the biographies of many past presidents on whitehouse.gov to include a bullet point or two inserting President Obama into each historical narrative.
For example, while President Calvin Coolidge had been the first president to make a public radio address, President Obama is on LinkedIn; and while Social Security was introduced by President Roosevelt, under President Obama it still exists. But in a far more egregious example, they incorrectly added to President Ronald Reagan’s biography:
“In a June 28, 1985 speech Reagan called for a fairer tax code, one where a multi-millionaire did not have a lower tax rate than his secretary. Today, President Obama is calling for the same with the Buffett Rule.”
This is not only a complete fabrication of what President Reagan said (even The Washington Post‘s ‘fact checker’ gave this familiar line two Pinocchios) but it is also a glaring example of the President putting himself ahead of the sacred institution he is sworn to protect for the nation as well as his predecessors and successors.
Heritage Distinguished Fellow Ed Meese who served as President Reagan’s Attorney General said: “They should not use the biographies of past presidents as campaign vehicles. What they have done is to spoil the integrity of the historical narrative. At the very least, the Reagan biography should be restored to the accurate version provided White House Historical Association. I’m sure those associated with other past presidents would feel the same.”
This is not the first time the Obama White House has engaged in this behavior. In March 2009, they were caught editing President Bush’s biography to soften his listed accomplishments. They quickly reversed course. In the Bush Administration, biographies were directly supplied by the White House Historical Association without addendums or qualifiers.
Former White House Internet Director David Almacy explained to The Heritage Foundation that under Bush, this editing practice would have been unthinkable, saying: “It was our intent to preserve the history of the White House as an institution as well as those who served as president from a non-partisan historical perspective.” Almacy added: “It was ingrained in Bush Administration staffers from day one that our time in service to our nation was a privilege and that we must separate political promotion from the institution as a whole.”
Affirming that culture, President Bush told a group of departing staffers in 2009: “Laura and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts for serving with us. I’ve had two great chiefs of staff, Andy and Josh. Their task was to assemble, and I would say this objectively, the finest group of people to serve our country, all of whom are here not to serve me, not to serve Republicans, but to serve the United States of America.”
This bipartisan approach evades the current White House. On April 20, President Obama’s campaign team released a Nixonian enemies list of Republican donors on their “Truth Team” website. This wasn’t about transparency, but intimidation. After each donor name, the Obama team highlighted why they felt the person was “less than reputable.” Essentially the person had either succeeded in a business field that was counter to the President’s worldview (i.e. oil production) or they made business decisions like outsourcing.
Prominent donors are often thrust into the spotlight in political campaigns, but this example was extraordinary and unprecedented. The writing was on the wall: If you give to an opposing cause, we will unleash a grassroots effort to destroy your personal reputation. This message delivered on behalf of the most powerful man in the nation has real implications. If the IRS were to audit one of these individuals, how could they not wonder if their political contribution was the root cause?
Following up on the story, the Wall Street Journal‘s Kimberly Strassel found that a week after this list was released, a political opposition researcher was found to be digging through divorce records of one of the men named. The target, Frank VanderSloot, told Strassel: “When I first learned that President Obama’s campaign had singled me out on his ‘enemies list,’ I knew it was like taping a target on my back…[but] the public beatings and false accusations that followed are no deterrent. These tactics will not work in America.”
Between the biographical trickery and their enemies list, President Obama’s team has engaged in tactics that put their boss above his predecessors and dangerously above his opponents. This is indeed a culture that emanates from the top.
Just last week President Obama told ABC News’ Robin Roberts in an interview: “When I think about — those soldiers or airmen or marines or — sailors who are out there fighting on my behalf…” My behalf.
Then there was also the consistent use of the pronoun “I” to describe the raid to kill Osama bin Laden. And the time, President Obama told 60 Minutes that he was our fourth greatest president ever, saying: “I would put our legislative and foreign policy accomplishments in our first two years against any president — with the possible exceptions of Johnson, F.D.R., and Lincoln — just in terms of what we’ve gotten done in modern history.”
Finally, President Obama insinuated yesterday that if you don’t support his policies, it’s not due to philosophical differences, but because of his name. Answering a question on The View about tight polls, he said: “When your name is Barack Obama, it’s always going to be tight. Barack Hussein Obama.”
Any person selected to the highest office in the land is bound to indulge a small degree of narcissism. But when it permeates the entire attitude and culture of the executive branch, it begins to become a problem. No president is larger than the presidency.
Classy Leftards…..AGAIN!
Scott Walker signs burned in Wisconsin
Things are heating up in Wisconsin, as campaign signs for Gov. Scott Walker reportedly have been burned in two towns.
At least eight signs for the Republican governor, who faces a recall election on June 8 against Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, were set on fire in Fox Point and Oak Creek, according to WTMJ-TV and WTMJ-AM.
Ya know, I realize there are idiots on both sides of the issue. Stealing someone’s yard signs is one thing….burning them in someone’s yard, which could quite easily get out of hand, and do major harm to people and property? Well, that’s a whole ‘nuther kettle of fish!
If I had to venture a guess, I’d say these arsonists were on the side of the unionistas who are annoyed that their “free ride” is over! Pretty pathetic, don’cha think? But then again, those who believe that society owes them anything are extremely pathetic beings. I’d say it was way past time for these anti-Walker types to grow up, and take a real good look in the mirror. THEY are the problem, not Walker.
